Walmart and Sam's Club Raise $1 Billion For Children's Miracle Network Hospitals!

This year marks a milestone year for Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members from across the country as they celebrate raising more than $1 billion for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The historic achievement was celebrated on Oct. 24 at Sanford Children’s Fargo — the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital — which has benefited from the passion, creativity and generosity shown at stores in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota.

Since 1991 — when Walmart and Sam’s Club first opened stores in the area — they’ve helped raise more than $3 million for local kids. This year alone, local stores raised $217,000 at the register and through special events during the fall fundraising campaign.

For associates like Ben St. Pierre, a Walmart store manager in Bemidji, Minn., the cause hits close to home.

Ben has worked at Walmart for more than 20 years and has been a strong supporter of Children’s Miracle Network, but he never imagined his own family would be on the receiving end.

In September, Ben’s 5-year-old daughter, Elle, was diagnosed with cancer. She has relied on treatment at Sanford Children’s, which thanks to funds raised for Children’s Miracle Network, is a special place of hope and healing for children and families across the region.

Every dollar stays local to support family services and unique programs, provide education and help purchase lifesaving equipment and technology to save and transform the lives of children, like Elle, close to home.

During the recent celebration event at Sanford Children’s, the St. Pierre family was recognized, along with local associates from across the region.

“We’re so proud of our long-standing partnership with Walmart and Sam’s Clubs,” said Hillery Mork, program director of Children’s Miracle Network at Sanford Children’s. “Year after year, local associates, members and customers go above and beyond for our kids and families like the St. Pierres.”
