Walmart & Sam’s Club: Powering Through the Pandemic for Lurie Children’s

Walmart and Sam’s locations came together this summer to make a difference for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. In the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area, 108 locations raised over $700,000 for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago!

Associates raised funds in various ways, including everything from selling t-shirts to sewing face masks, as well as asking customers to round up their change to the nearest dollar.

This year’s campaign brought lots of challenges with stores facing restrictions and protocol changes due to COVID-19, but stores did not let this hinder their efforts to support patient families and children at Lurie Children’s.

Many associates consider the annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign one of their favorite times of the year, especially for associates who have been involved in the campaign for many years.

“I have been working for Walmart for over 28 years and have been a CMN champion for the last 10 years,” said Kati Sells from Crystal Lake Walmart 1413. “I love listening to the stories families have told us. It is incredible to know they are not alone and that help is in their own backyard,” she added.

The passion Walmart and Sam’s Club associates have for supporting their local CMN Hospital is evident in all that they do. Melissa Cruse, who helps organize fundraising activities at location 1490 in Rockford has been supporting the campaign for 8 years.

“I am honored to be part of this campaign every year! I always give my heart to this cause,” Melissa said.
