Walmart Stores #HelpKidsLiveBetter

Walmart and Walmart Neighborhood Market stores are once again joining forces to raise money for Cottage Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) during the annual Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals campaign.

Money is raised primarily through a register campaign where customers and members contribute $1 or more when they checkout. Associates also fundraise in other ways including bake sales, in-store contests, and events.

“We are proud to support the families served by Cottage Children’s Medical Center through the Children’s Miracle Network campaign,” said Santa Maria Walmart Neighborhood Market store manager Alex Najera. “Our customers make an impact in our community every year through their generous contributions. Our store always looks forward to raising funds for this important cause.”

This year’s register campaign for CCMC runs now through July 7, at stores in Lompoc, Santa Maria, Arroyo Grande and Paso Robles.

Money raised at these Walmart stores goes directly to benefit the sick and injured kids treated at CCMC. Funds are used to pay for equipment, supplies, charitable care, and a variety of other needs the hospital has.

Walmart and Sam’s Club joined the CMN Hospitals fundraising family in 1987 with Sam Walton himself being personally involved in the beginning of the relationship between the organizations. The fundraising campaigns supports Walmart’s goal of giving back to local communities. To date, Walmart and Neighborhood Market associates, members and customers in the Santa Barbara/San Luis Obispo county areas have raised more than $600 thousand for Cottage Children’s Medical Center, most of it one dollar at a time. On a national level, Walmart and Sam’s Club have raised more than $1 billion for CMN Hospitals; the largest cash amount ever raised by one company for a nonprofit in North America.
