Local Walmart and Sam’s Club Associates, Customers and Members Raise $73,686 for Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital

Annual fundraising campaign marks 30th anniversary of Walmart and Sam’s Club helping kids live better

Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members in the Midlands of South Carolina put their money where the miracles are during the annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising campaign.

The Columbia, SC market raised $73,686 for Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Walmart and Sam’s Club working with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to raise money for sick and injured kids in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Donations poured starting Aug. 28 through Oct. 29, as Walmart and Sam’s Club associates at locations held various in-store fundraising activities and asked customers and members at the register to help kids live better.

In addition to raising funds during the register campaign, stores hold grassroots events throughout the year and this year provided our kids with a magical sleigh! Thank you, Walmart, for blessing us with your generous donation for the kids at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital! This Disney’s Frozen-themed sleigh is already providing magical rides for the patients and their sidekicks. Those who get a ride may have a hard time when they have to… “Let It Go!”

“30 years ago Sam Walton told our founders that his associates would amaze us, and they certainly have,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “I scarcely have the words to express our gratitude to all of the Walmart and Sam’s Clubs associates, customers and members who have done so much to help the kids treated in our member hospitals.”

Walmart and Sam’s Club funds impact each of the 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which treat one in 10 children across North America. Hospitals use the funds based on what they need most — typically providing lifesaving equipment and research, supporting top therapy programs and providing charitable care.
