Miracle Makers: Leading by Example

Miracle Makers is a series of 30 stories from Walmart and Sam’s Club associates to celebrate the companies’ 30th anniversary of fundraising for CMN Hospitals

It wasn’t until he adopted his son in 2014 that Sam’s Club Manager Cody Nelson realized the true impact of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Between visiting Children’s Hospital Colorado for his son’s routine checkups and participation in camp programs, Cody has seen firsthand the life-changing effect of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Now, asking every customer who visits his Club to contribute has become much more meaningful.

“I’m super proud of the work our company does on behalf of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” Cody says. “I couldn’t ask to work for a better company.”

In his small community, many people now know Cody’s story, and his son, who visits Sam’s Club often as a kind of unofficial mascot, encouraging associates and customers to participate in fundraising campaigns.

“The work we do directly impacts families in need,” Cody says. “My family is an example of that.”
