Miracle Worker Spotlight: Nancy Shaw

Hello, miracle workers! It has been a wonderful month for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. We saw great success with #ChildrensHospitalsWeek, and it would not have been possible without our incredible Walmart and Sam’s Club associates. Thank you for all your hard work!

This week, it is our pleasure to highlight a very special Walmart associate, Nancy Hammond Shaw. Nancy has been at Walmart for more than 15 years. Her CMN journey began as a cashier, where she would sell balloons. Shortly after, she created a game of “tag” among her fellow associates to get everyone at the store involved (and excited) about donating.

The mission of Children’s Miracle Network hits close to home for Nancy, which pushes her to continually pursue her donation efforts. Three of her grandchildren have been admitted to CMN hospitals at various times, and she expressed gratitude for the way her local CMN hospital handled each case. One incident involved her young granddaughter. “Being from a small town, our children’s hospital is an hour away. Our CMN hospital sent a helicopter for my three-year granddaughter that had eaten a potentially dangerous substance.” In a pivotal moment, Nancy and her family were grateful for the speed and consideration of their CMN hospital. Nancy frequently involves her family and friends in her fundraising efforts, making CMN a part of her every day life.

Nancy was kind enough to share some of her favorite moments from her time working with CMN: “My favorite memory was the first time I visited a CMN hospital and I was able to see how much help and support the kids and families received.  It was great to see that the work I did was actually making a difference! I also loved gathering small things like chap sticks and coloring books to donate.”

We are so grateful to have team members like Nancy. “I love helping CMN every year to make money for the kids. Our hospital is the best!”

She has truly caught the vision of CMN, and it shows in her fundraising efforts and support! Thank you Nancy, and keep up the good work!
